Overview

Provides escort service for patients within the Medical Center.

Responsibilities

Escorts patients within the Medical Center to and from patient units via appropriate means of transportation (e.g., wheelchair, bed, stretcher, crib). Escorts are expected to maintain a courteous manner toward patient at all times.

Transports deceased patients to morgue.

Maintains records of assignments, including description of person/item, time of pick up and delivery, obtaining appropriate signatures as required.

Ensures safety and comfort of patient (e.g., makes sure safety rails are properly positioned when transporting patients on stretchers, wheelchairs and beds). Assures that patient has proper covers.

Checks that IV pole is firmly attached and that the IV bag is full. Reports any looseness of pole attachment or problems with IV bag promptly to supervisor.

Verifies that equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs, cribs) is in working order and clean as needed for patient use. Reports any damaged equipment promptly to supervisor.

Ensures that required equipment (i.e. radio) is present and functioning properly at start of shift.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalency.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of previous patient care experience preferred.

Skills:

Good oral communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills.

Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Pay Range

USD $23.90 - USD $24.43 /Hr.
