Summary

Little Sprouts Discovery Center is looking to hire a full-time School Age Teacher for the summer (June-August) with potential of year round employment. Must be able to work anytime between 5:30am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday. Experience in a daycare center is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Duties

  • This position requires a person who is able to plan and carry out a daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of a group of children.
  • This person must be able to effectively supervise other staff assisting in the classroom, be sensitive to the needs of the individual children and relate well to both children and adults.
  • Maintain a physical environment conductive to a child's growth and development.
  • Respect the dignity and basic rights of each child.
  • Make daily observations of the health of the children.
  • Hold parent-teacher conferences and seek to involve parents in the child's development program by participating in parent meetings.
  • Maintain progress records on the emotional, physical, social and intellectual development of assigned children.
  • Supervise and encourage the development of assistant teachers, aids, volunteers and other childcare personnel in the classroom.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other career development and professional activities.
  • Perform classroom related and other maintenance duties as requested.
  • Provide a monthly newsletter.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have completed high school or it's equivalency
  • Have an Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Development OR have completed or be willing to complete the Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Skills Strategies for the Child Care Teacher
  • Be CPR and First Aid certified or is willing to obtain within 6 months of assuming the position
