Job Summary

The City of St. Peters is seeking a passionate and creative Art Specialist (Writing) to lead engaging writing programs within our instructional art camp. This role is responsible for developing curriculum, overseeing program activities, and fostering a supportive environment for aspiring writers.

Camp Dates: July 27th through July 31st Hiring Deadline: Must be hired by May 15 to attend required camp trainings

Normal Shift: Monday- Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and implement writing-focused programs aligned with camp objectives and City policies.
• Design and lead writing workshops, encouraging creativity and skill development in various literary forms.
• Establish and enforce safety and risk management procedures for participants, staff, and equipment.
• Set and uphold standards for program operations, customer service, and participant engagement.
• Supervise and coordinate daily writing program activities.
• Manage check-in and check-out procedures for participants.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain clear communication with staff, participants, and families.
• Ensure compliance with City safety standards and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
• Bachelor of Arts Degree in related field, and two (2) years of applicable experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One (1) year experience working with children.

Candidates must be hired by May 15 to attend required Camp Trainings scheduled for May 21-22 or May 26-30 . CPR training will take place on additional dates to be determined.
