Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a General Medicine Clinical Nurse Coordinator to support our Healthcare & Medical Services department. This Registered Nurse role is central to our mission of delivering advanced medical services and compassionate, patient-centered care to the community. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will coordinate and oversee the clinical care of adult general medicine patients, serving as a key resource, mentor, and liaison among patients, families, bedside nurses, physicians, and the broader interdisciplinary care team. In this role, you will provide direct and indirect patient care while supporting nursing staff in clinical decision-making, prioritizing patient needs, and escalating changes in condition. You will help organize daily workflow on the unit, including participating in and facilitating patient care huddles and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring that each patient has a safe and comprehensive plan of care. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will champion evidence-based practice, maintain high standards of documentation in the Electronic Health Record, and assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes to promote smooth transitions of care and an excellent patient experience. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, case managers, social workers, and ancillary departments to coordinate complex care needs, address barriers to discharge, and connect patients with appropriate community and post-acute resources. A strong focus on patient and family education is essential, including explaining disease processes, medications, procedures, and follow-up care to support understanding and adherence. You will actively participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, including monitoring key metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping implement changes that align with Mission Health’s standards and regulatory requirements. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator at Mission Health, you will model professional practice and foster a collaborative culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and continuous professional growth.
