JOB SUMMARY

Manage shipping and receiving team members of forklift operators and truck drivers, oversee all aspects of shipping duties and all costs associated with the shipping department.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Manage, coach and oversee shipping receiving team members to be accountable for their daily duties.
• Review all warehousing procedures and practices making recommendations for improvement and efficiency to include training or other equipment needs in increase department efficiencies.
• Collaborate and execute inter-company freight within other Vanguard locations.
• Work with management to set department KPIs.
• Provide documentation on additional needs for Warehousing as needed.
• Schedule Truck Drivers’ runs in the most cost-efficient and time-saving manner possible. Maintain Driver trailer inspection logs and driving records per DOT requirements.
• Attend daily Scheduling Meeting and assist the Plant Scheduler in meeting our customers’ requirements.
• Prepare work orders for and coordinate repairs of trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doors.
• Coordinate with Sales Service the delivery of the customer orders on time.
• Keep management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
• Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings with the violating employees.
• Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
• Communicate with necessary management and team members in shift-to-shift handoff maintaining overall shift effectiveness.
• Be able to complete ROI’s on equipment to justify equipment needs.
• Establish high morale within department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
• Develop strong rapport with various freight lines.
• Align and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program, and good housekeeping.
• Attendance is an essential job duty.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or combined education and years of experience.
• Two years’ experience as a managing a team of forklift operator and/or truck drivers.
• Experience using Excel worksheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

• College and/or related technical experience.
• Four years experience in the corrugated box industry.
