Game Designer

Founded in 2020, Supersocial operates a cutting-edge studio and a next-generation agency, developing, producing and publishing world-class games, experiences and brand worlds on Roblox, Web3 and other emerging platforms. Our mission is to create and empower digital communities to play, explore, socialize and meaningfully express themselves in the next era of the Internet.

Supersocial was founded by Yonatan Raz-Fridman "Yon" (CEO), Pedro Romi (CFO), Luiza Justus (Head of Creative) and Tatiana Wlasek (Chief Operations Officer), together bringing demonstrable track record in building and scaling consumer tech companies and brands. Our CEO Yon is recognized as a trailblazer and thought leader in the metaverse space both for his work with Supersocial and his podcast Into The Metaverse.

Our special sauce is combining creator talent who grew up on the Roblox platform with creatives and operators with decades of experience building consumer brands and telling stories in creative ways. The Supersocial team combines deep Roblox expertise with AAA experience and creative storytellers who, together, design cutting edge experiences that feels authentic to metaverse communities.

Supersocial is seeking a highly motivated and creative Game Designer to join our growing team. You will have the unique opportunity to use your game design experience to help shape the future of Supersocial experiences on Roblox and beyond.

In this role you will partner with the Principal designer to embrace creative challenges and generate innovative ideas that speak to different audiences and a wide range of partners. You will take the ideas and translate them into game design documentation, and work with project leads to turn the documentation into actionable plans.

You will play a key role on multiple cross-functional teams to shepherd the design through multiple phases while iterating on features that don't work, and balancing those that do. You will relentlessly champion the player and view each design decision through the lens of player surprise and delight. You will strive for success in everything you do, but will not be afraid of failure and will apply lessons learned to future projects.

You understand that the primary role of game design is to encourage teams to chase the best ideas, and will facilitate conversations to do just that. You believe that egos and selfishness are the antithesis to healthy, high-functioning creative game teams.…and believe that teams that have fun make fun games!

You'll enjoy this role if you can…

• Play a key role in defining, maintaining, and communicating the creative vision for your game to ensure a fun and engaging player experience.
• Develop and maintain all game design documentation for various projects and turn into actionable plans.
• Collaborate with an agile, cross-functional team to turn the game vision into a great player experience.
• Drive gameplay, systems, and content design through all development phases, from concept to live operations.
• Rapidly respond to and iterate on feedback and performance indicators by providing both high-level direction and hands-on design implementation.
• Partner with product, leadership, and stakeholders to drive the game schedule, including the roadmap and backlog.
• Exemplify proven game design practices to the team.

Qualifications

Must Have

• 3+ years of experience as a game designer who has worked on complete production cycles from concept to ship.
• Deep knowledge of game theory and design best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey designs clearly to team members, leadership and stakeholders.
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to deliver high-quality designs on time.
• Experience mentoring other game designers or serving as the lead of a feature or team.

Nice to Have

• UX design experience
• Expertise in rapid prototyping or running prototyping teams
• Designing games on Roblox
• Mentoring other game designers or serving as a lead of a feature or team
