Field Service Technician Installation & Repair

Position Summary

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to take ownership of on-site installation and repair of our automated personal care equipment at customer locations nationwide. This role is heavily focused on diagnostics and repair you will be the person responsible for getting equipment running correctly in the field, supported remotely by our engineering staff. When not traveling, you will work out of our Euless, TX facility alongside the production team, supporting equipment assembly and pre-shipment testing. The ideal candidate is a strong troubleshooter who can systematically diagnose electrical, mechanical, and fluid system issues, communicate clearly with both customers and engineers, and work independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation of automated equipment at customer locations, including electrical hookup, mechanical assembly, fluid system connection, and system commissioning.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and fluid system faults in fielded equipment, working with remote engineering support as needed.
  • Troubleshoot control system issues including wiring faults, relay and SSR failures, motor and actuator problems, pump and solenoid malfunctions, and sensor failures.
  • Diagnose basic networking and serial communication issues between system components.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers during installation and service visits.
  • Coordinate with engineering staff to resolve complex issues, provide field feedback, and document recurring problems.
  • Maintain accurate service records including repair notes, parts used, and time on site.
  • Support equipment assembly and pre-shipment testing at the Euless facility when not traveling.
  • Manage travel logistics, tools, and spare parts inventory for field service trips.
  • Follow all safety procedures during installation and repair work.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in equipment installation, diagnostics, and repair in a field service, maintenance, or similar role.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including use of multimeters and ability to trace wiring faults, diagnose relay/SSR circuits, and test motor and actuator systems.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience with motors, actuators, drive systems, belts, bearings, and related electromechanical components.
  • Experience troubleshooting fluid or pneumatic systems including pumps, solenoids, tubing, fittings, and pressure regulation.
  • Ability to diagnose basic serial communication and networking issues between connected devices.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills able to represent the company professionally on site.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with remote engineering support.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, nationwide.
  • Able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and work in varied site conditions.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automated equipment, industrial controls, or manufacturing equipment service.
  • Familiarity with 24V DC power systems and low-voltage control circuits.
  • Exposure to embedded systems or microcontroller-based products (e.g., ESP32, Arduino, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with stepper motors, servo motors, linear actuators, or motion control systems.
  • Background in HVAC, commercial equipment service, medical device service, or similar field service roles.
  • Experience reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service documentation.
