Characteristics of Work

Under general supervision the incumbent performs daily housekeeping and cleaning tasks and operates various types of cleaning equipment to maintain a properly presentable facility for all assigned building and performs related work as required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the Agency.

Moves and arranges furniture, equipment and supplies as needed.

Sets up and takes down tables and chairs for events in meeting rooms as needed.

Cleans up meeting room completely and arranges back to its original order and condition.

Picks up waste from grounds as needed daily.

Empties and cleans outdoor ashtrays/wastebaskets, and indoor trash cans, daily.

Dust and damp mops tile floors or vacuums carpeted floors as needed.

Inspects several times daily and cleans as necessary; restrooms, break room and meeting rooms.

Clean up spills quickly.

Removes empty boxes and trash at the end of the day.

Maintains janitorial supplies and equipment, and janitorial storage area.

Maintains thermostat settings at temperatures recommended by Entergy.

Notifies supervisor of deficiencies, unsafe conditions and need for maintenance or repair.

Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

Incumbent must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and possess one (1) year experience in custodial work.

Special Requirements

Manual dexterity skills.

Ability to lift 50 pounds infrequently.

Willingness to work day, afternoon and evening shifts.

Using a comprehensive delivery system, HCHRA provides services to eligible clients, funded by public, private, and local sources.
