Position Overview The Illinois Department of Public Health requires a highly motivated individual to perform confidential administrative tasks involving legal documents. The role involves serving as a liaison between Springfield and Chicago legal personnel, conducting studies to improve operational efficiency, composing legal correspondence, and researching legal matters. Essential Functions Act as confidential staff assistant to the General Counsel, liaising between Springfield and Chicago legal personnel for maintenance and exchange of confidential information. Assist with oversight, preparation, and handling of confidential legal documents, composing technical correspondence for senior attorneys and the Director. Conduct confidential legal research, prepare reports, and present findings related to departmental legal issues. Maintain office files and resource documents in an orderly manner for easy retrieval. Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of college education with courses in public or business administration, OR equivalent experience. One (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency‑approved professional management training program. Preferred Qualifications One (1) year of experience as a liaison with legal personnel dealing with confidential information. One (1) year of experience overseeing, preparing, and handling confidential legal documents. One (1) year of experience conducting confidential legal research and preparing reports. One (1) year of experience maintaining office files and resource documents. One (1) year of experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SmartSheets, etc.).
